Picturesque Coffin Bay is located 45kms west of Port Lincoln.
A great place for you and your family to relax and to enjoy nature at it’s best.
Lots to offer – great fishing, boating, sailing, canoeing, swimming, diving, windsurfing, in fact all water sports plus walking trails and fabulous scenery.
On the doorstep of the beautiful Coffin Bay National Park, abundant flora and fauna needs to be seen to be appreciated.

Banking: ATM machines are available at the, Hotel, Beachcomber Shop and General Store. The Post Office has EFTPOS for cash out and is an agency of all Credit Unions, National Bank, Commonwealth Bank, Bank SA, ANZ and Bendigo Bank. Please note the Post Office is NOT agency of Westpac banks.
BBQ’s: Coffin Bay has a total of four free BBQ’s.
- Foreshore: on the lawns near the jetty, under the shelter by the playground.
- Foreshore: on the lawns between the playground and the beach closest to the Yacht club
- Boat Ramp, under pergola
- Recreational (“Rec”) Park, under shelter
Beachcomber: Located next to the Caravan Park the Beachcomber shop provides a large range of products including Oysters, Coffee, fish ’n’ chips, burgers, steak sandwiches, hot dogs, fresh sandwiches & rolls, River Farm fresh meats, fruit & veg, icecream, groceries, drinks, gas, fuel, ice, papers, fishing gear, bait, magazines, souvenirs & clothing and an ATM. Bike Track: At the Recreational Park. Great Fun!
Boat Washing: Facilities are located at the boat ramp.
Boat Ramp: Situated off the Esplanade. Please take care as this is used frequently by Oyster Boats. There are boat washing facilities with ample parking for your trailers. Also has BBQ, pergola with tables and chairs, public toilets, cold showers, and fish cleaning facilities. Great place to feed your fish scraps to the pelicans.
Bottle Shop: Both the General Store on the Esplanade, and the Hotel located on Shepperd Ave off Jubilee Drive, have licensed bottle shops.
Bowls: Lawn Bowls Up at the Sporting complex (Golf Club). Twilight bowls, Tuesday evenings. Names in by 5.30, for a 6pm start. Daylight saving time only.
Indoor bowls at the Community Hall, Fridays 2pm, pooled afternoon tea, bowls supplied, $3 per person. Visitors welcome. Enquiries: Margaret 8685 4211 or Bev 0400 979 425.
Butcher: Call into the RAW Meat Store now located at Shop 4/61 Esplanade Coffin Bay and meet Keith. Open 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12noon Saturdays. Phone 0438 451 116
Car/Motor Repairs: Call in and see Chris Sullivan at Coffin Bay Motors for all your general mechanical services and repairs. Now located at 46 Harder Street. Open Monday – Friday 8am – 5.30pm.

Chemist: COFFIN BAY PHARMACY – 2 Flinders Ave. (next to the Post Office) Phone & Fax
8685 4080. Open 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday & 9am to 2pm Saturday. Pharmacist on duty to provide professional and friendly advice and same day prescription medication. Be prepared for the summer sun with special prices on Cancer Council Pharmacy Choice sunscreens and a range of zinc creams, catering for all ages. We also stock a range of general Pharmacy lines. If we don’t have it we can get it overnight.
Community Church: Corner of Haggarty and Tapley Street. Worship services every Sunday 9am. This is a joint initiative of the Lutheran, and Uniting Church. Craft Market: Sunday markets are held here regularly on Sundays at the Town Hall on the Esplanade next door to the General Store. Great for fresh produce, yummy jams, handmade jewelry, knitted products and crafts. Enquiries to Janice Freeman 0428 886 207
Doctor: Coffin Bay. Dr Gerard Quigley and Dr Cariappa Madappa (Dr Maddy) consult Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Hours are subject to change and may increase during peak season. For appointment please call the Cummins Medical Clinic 8678 2210
Dr Claire Rowe offers a medical service on Wednesdays 9 – 4pm and 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. She works out of the Coffin Bay Community Health Centre (Corner of Hawson Street and Flinders Avenue) For appointments and messages for Dr Rowe, please ring 8683 2077.
Fire Ban Season: 1sth November till 15th of April. There are TOTAL fire ban days, check with the local CFS on 8682 4266, or listen to the ABC radio station for updates. Please be extremely careful throughout summer in this region, particularly with smoldering cigarette butts, power tools etc.
There is a local fire escape plan on the front of the fridge door, and it is strongly recommended that you familiarise yourself with this information.
Fishing: Fishing inspectors are here regularly, be aware of fish sizes and bag limits etc. King George Whiting must be 30cm (west of Port Lincoln), and there is a bag limit of 12 per person with a maximum of 36 per boat. There are limits on other species as well. If in doubt call fish watch hotline on 1800 065 522. Sorry can’t help you with any “secret spots”!

Gas: The Beachcomber does refills & the General Store have exchange bottles. L.P.G (cars) facilities are only available in Port Lincoln.
General Store: Chris and staff look forward to meeting you. Open 7 days a week. ATM machine, eftpos facilities. Take away meals, cappuccinos, breakfasts, fishing tackle, bait, ice, magazines, DVD hire and grocery lines. Liquor Store attached with a great selection of wines, beer and spirits. Golf Club: Located off the end of Giles Road, behind the Caravan Park. Contact the Caravan Park
(8685 4170) for golf clubs, bag and buggy hire. Green fees apply. Winter competitions: Men’s: Thursdays names in by 11am. Ladies, Tuesday’s, names in by 9am and mixed competition on Sundays all year round, names in by 12 noon. Twilight golf on Fridays, names in by 5pm, tee off at 5:30pm with BBQ tea on completion (contact Steve on 0427 845 379 for twilight golf information)
Jetty: Town Jetty is a good place to fish, but also a working port – please take care around fishing boats coming into and leaving the Jetty area.
Jindihn Antiques and Restorations: Minniribbie Pig Farm, Snapper Hill Rd. Follow the red signs from Airport Rd, on the road into Coffin Bay. Browse the antiques and collectables in the big shed and spend hours searching for that perfect piece. Then enjoy one of the famous pancakes and refreshments at the café on the deck overlooking Kellidie and Coffin Bays. Why not take home some of our own Minniribbie Berkshire pork to enjoy, which include real bacon, traditional smoked hams and fresh pork. OPEN 6 days Monday – Saturday 10am to 5pm. Long Beach: Driving on Long Beach, speed limits apply! Stay above the waterline, on dry sand, no matter how tempting the exposed sea bed may look in summer – very amusing (& costly) to have your car removed by tractor, and the RAA will need to come out from Port Lincoln.
Lookout: Situated off the main road at the entrance to the town. Call in and admire the views over Coffin Bay and the surrounding waterways.
Marine Parks: Recreational Fishing in SA Marine Parks now applicable in the area, please check this book for guides for this area, or follow up on www.marineparks.sa.gov.au
Markets: Held at the Coffin Bay Hall in the main street most Sundays during the School holidays. Watch out for signs on market days or for regular updates check Coffin Bay Market on Facebook. Call Janice Freeman 0428 886 207 for further information.

Coffin Bay Pizza and Home Made Food: Relocated to Harder Street, opposite the Town Hall (old butcher shop). Open 10am to late Wednesdays to Mondays (closed Tuesdays), Closed Xmas Day and Good Friday. SCHOOL HOLIDAYS OPEN 7 DAYS. Coffin Bay Yacht Club: Run by volunteers. Bar open 5pm Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Happy Hour 6 – 7pm Friday nights. Meals served from 6pm, Orders till 8pm – summer and 7.30pm – winter. Wednesday night is “Fish & Chip” night. Well priced meals, great selection of salads, kids meals available, great family atmosphere. Good wine selection. Set right on the beach with stunning views over the bay. Visitors welcome. EFTPOS and Cash out facilities available. Now on Facebook.
1802 Oyster Bar & Bistro: Located at 61 Esplanade 8685 4626. Fresh and tantalizing local seafood served from the ocean to your plate. We also cater for meat lovers and vegetarians. Open Tuesday to Sunday: Lunch 12 – 2.30pm, Dinner 6 – 8.30pm, all day Oysters and pizza. Enjoy the unique dining experience either inside or from the stunning outdoor deck. National Park: Well worth the trip, 4wd not necessary to visit Almonta Beach, Yangie Bay and Point Avoid, but certainly required for Gunyah Beach, and past Yangie Bay. Spectacular vistas and beaches, lookouts, great fishing, and walking trails. Watch the speed limits carefully, with kangaroos and emus wandering freely. Day passes available from the Rangers hut, inside the park. Yearly passes available from the Beachcomber.
Nurse: Community Nurse at the Health Centre (Corner of Hawson Street and Flinders Avenue)
8.00am – 1pm. Closed Public Holidays. Services include: wound care, blood pressure checks, blood sugar levels, removal of stitches, blood tests (as ordered by your GP), general health enquiries.
Oysters: Available from the Beachcomber and General Store. Direct door sales in the industrial area (up Harder Street) Spawning season begins in early December until late February, depending on the weather and water temperature, oysters may not be available at this time other than Triploid oysters from Kellidie Bay.
Oyster Walk: A scenic, relaxing 8km meandering walk along the coast, from Long Beach to a lookout above the town, surrounded by natural vegetation. Pick it up at any point along the foreshore in front of the shacks.
Playgrounds: located on the foreshore as well as the Recreational Park. Please note, the caravan park playground is for patrons only.
Post Office: Mike and Helen are a great source of local knowledge. Pay your bills here, EFTPOS facilities. Cater for all your postal needs, giftware, postcards, phone credit and cards. Also a bank agency for Commonwealth, National, Bendigo, Bank SA and ANZ banks as well as Credit Unions. Haggarty Street, behind the Beachcomber, phone 8685 4020.
Putt Putt: Coff‘n’Putt minigolf course open 7 days a week during school holidays, 10am – 5pm. Other times, generally open 9-5 weekdays. Please check details at Post Office. Enjoyable for children, but challenging enough to keep the adults entertained! Situated in Haggarty Street at the Post Office.
Public Toilets: Are located at the boat ramp, Recreation Park, and new foreshore area near the town jetty. The boat ramp facility also has (cold) showers available.
RAA: The nearest RAA mechanic is based in Port Lincoln: Geoff Whitehead Motors. Call the RAA for contact details.
Recreation Park: Includes tennis court, basketball ring, bike track, skate park, playground, oval, cubby house, BBQ area and toilets – great place for kids to play and kick the footy. Corner of Morgan Road and Jubilee Drive. Tennis court nets available for hire from the General Store.
Sailing: Season runs from October long weekend until Easter each year. Races commence at 1.30 pm Sundays. Great fun for all the family, come down and get involved. Contact Darian 0409 151 529
